What is Wiper Seal

Wiper seal, also known as the dust ring, is a type of hydraulic seal.  Wipers are installed in the sealing configurations of hydraulic cylinders to prevent contaminants such as dirt, dust and moisture from entering the cylinder as they retract back into the system.

This is usually accomplished by a seal having a wiper lip that substantially removes any dust, dirt or moisture from the cylinder rod each cycle.  This type of sealing is critical because contamination can damage other components of the hydraulic system and cause the system to fail.

These wipers have an interior lip that sits in the rod edging, keeping the wiper in the same positon relative to the rod. 

Snap In wiper seals are designed without any metal component and are east to install without any special equipment.  The Snap In wiper varies from the metal clad wiper in that it fits in a gland in the cylinder. 

This wiper has a variety of heights to accommodate fitting into the groove in the cylinder.  They are also available in a number of different materials to fit your needs.  The most common material is Urethane, but they can be made in FKM(Viton), Nitrile, and Polymite.
